Please make sure to check out our new home, and new fancy blog design. Don't fret it should be a pretty easy transition, our feed should continue uninterrupted, and old posts will have permalinks/redirects to their new home. Please let us know if you have any problems.
Our new address: daughterearth.com/blog
It's not a new blog, we just moved off of Blogspot & over to Wordpress, so that our blog's design matches the rest of the site, and the Daughter Earth shop! Special thanks to Willo of WilloToons, web genius & design rockstar, for helping us get our new blog up and running!
Happy Earth Day! Tell us what you are going to do this year to be kinder to our planet and we'll give away our I 'heart' Trees Recycled Canvas Tote Bag to the person with our favorite answer. Please leave your answers as a comment on our blog!
Need some ideas - this is what I've been up to...
Here's my good from this year: 1. I commute on public transportation 2. I eat mostly organic fruits and vegetables 3. I rarely eat red meat 4. I don't buy products containing palm oil 5. I compost and recycle 6. I try to spread awareness about conservation issues 7. I donate and volunteer with organizations that work towards preventing or restoring habitats of endangered animals.
What I need to work on: 1. I fly too often 2. I use too many paper products, paper towels, napkins, printing at work (I do recycle or compost all of them though) 3. I dry my clothes in a dryer 4. I take long showers 5. Sometimes I forget to turn off lights
This year I am going to buy a drying rack and hang dry more of my clothing. I will also make a more conscious effort to turn of lights, watch my paper usage and take shorter showers. When I fly I will purchase carbon offsets through programs like carbonfund.org.
Leave your comments about what you are going to do this year to help our planet! You may leave comments until Sunday, April 25th at 12:00 pm PST. I will announce the winner on Monday, April 26th.
A few people have been asking to see what I drew at the Monster Drawing Rally. Well, I just got a letter in the mail saying that they posted the pictures. The letter also told me that I sold both my pieces - which made me very happy!
