This is a picture of my Nonna. It won a photo contest in 1938. I am not sure who the photographer is. Nonna passed away over ten years ago now, but she was a fabulous lady.
It's such a fun picture I thought I would post it. I played with it in photoshop a bit to add some color!
I love how this picture shows her relationship with the ocean - a love and appreciation which her grandkids also share. I actually remember playing on the edge of the water with my Nonna when I was about four years old. A HUGE (probably not that huge but in my memory it's like 8 feet tall) wave came right to the shore and knocked us both over - an event that should have been quite frightening for a little four year old. I remember getting up after wards washing all the water off our faces and thinking woah - that was pretty awesome.
